Howdy Frisco -
Have you ever looked at a salad and thought, "this needs to be inside a baguette"? Because Bread Zeppelin just opened on Main Street and apparently Dallas has been doing this for years and nobody told me. Eleven Texas locations in and I'm just now finding out. Classic new-to-Frisco moment.
Anyway, a lot going on this week. Let's get into it.
🧨 Freedom Fest Is Back And It's Moving Around
If you're planning the family's Fourth of July, here's what you need to know: Freedom Fest 2026 is spread across three venues this year.
The party kicks off July 3 at Kaleidoscope Park with Paws and Stripes (yes, dogs are involved - my girls will absolutely be dragging us to this one).
Then on July 4, things split up:
Northwest Community Park - Party in the U.S.A. 5K at 8am
Kaleidoscope Park - Cornhole Tournament at 11am
Riders Field - Block Party at 4:30pm, Classic Car Show at 6pm, and the Fireworks Extravaganza around 10pm
Fireworks at Riders Field is the main event. If you've never watched fireworks from a baseball stadium, it's a solid setup. Save this now so you're not scrambling on the 3rd trying to figure out where to park.
🏗️ A $200M Development Is Coming Right Next Door
This one's technically McKinney, but it's close enough that I feel it in my bones as a Frisco resident.
Globe Life moved its corporate HQ in 2025, leaving behind nearly 58 acres straddling the McKinney-Frisco border at Stonebridge and Eldorado. A developer called Craig International just won the bid to redevelop the site and they're calling it Rowlett Station, named after the creek that runs along the western edge.
The vision is a mixed-use destination with residential, retail, and office components, plus a hike-and-bike trail network connecting to Eldorado Parkway and looping past a nearby Trader Joe's and Crunch Fitness. Total projected value: $200 million+.
This corridor is already stacked: Adriatica, Methodist McKinney, TPC Craig Ranch, HEB right next door. Rowlett Station slots right into one of the strongest growth pockets in all of North Texas.
Details on phasing and partners are still coming. But this is the kind of project that changes a corridor for a decade.
🏫 FISD Just Saved Taxpayers $152 Million. Yes, Really.
School district finances aren't exactly my idea of a fun Sunday read, but this one caught my attention…
Frisco ISD completed its third debt refinancing of the school year, bringing total savings since August to $152.2 million. The most recent deal alone refinanced $62 million in debt, cut the interest rate from 5% to 3.15%, and chopped the repayment timeline in half: from 20 years to 10.
Over the last decade, FISD's proactive debt management has generated more than $470 million in total taxpayer savings.
This matters. A district that manages money well is a district that has more room to invest in teachers, programs, and facilities. As someone who's going to be on the receiving end of those decisions for the next 15+ years, I notice when districts get this right.
Good stewardship deserves credit.
🦟 West Nile Heads Up - Two Pools Tested Positive in Frisco
Not fun news, but worth knowing: two mosquito pools tested positive for West Nile virus in Frisco as of June 5. Locations were Copper Point Lane in Village Lake and Gardenia Road in Hollyhock.
The city isn't spraying yet but is increasing surveillance and larviciding in those neighborhoods. No confirmed human cases so far this year.
The basics for your family:
Wear long sleeves/pants at dawn and dusk
Apply repellent with DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus
Remove standing water from your yard… bird baths, clogged gutters, saucers under pots
With three kids under 5 and a backyard we're constantly in, this is the kind of reminder I actually need. Check your yard this week.
