Howdy Frisco -

I spent Friday evening trying to explain to my 4-year-old why we can't audition her for the Universal Kids Resort shows next month.

She watched me scroll through the casting details and now thinks she's going to be "the princess in the park."

My wife thinks it's hilarious. I think I've created a monster.

🏢 AT&T is bringing 54 acres of corporate campus to Legacy

AT&T announced plans to relocate its global headquarters to a new 54-acre campus in Plano's Legacy District at 5400 Legacy Drive.

This is the old Ross Perot Electronic Data Systems site that's been sitting vacant for over six years.

As someone who drives through Legacy West every single day for work, this is massive.

The campus will consolidate AT&T's three largest DFW locations, bringing thousands of workers to an area that's already bursting during rush hour.

Partial occupancy targeted for second half of 2028. Rezoning goes before Planning and Zoning on February 2nd.

Why this matters: This site has been empty since before I moved here in 2023. Getting a Fortune 500 headquarters built there keeps our property values strong and our schools funded. My daughters will be in Frisco ISD someday. This stuff matters.

⛳ PGA of America CEO stepping down after barely a year

Derek Sprague is leaving as CEO of the PGA of America, which moved its headquarters to Frisco back in August 2022.

He started the job in January 2025 and didn't even make it to his one-year anniversary.

Sprague cited family reasons in his resignation, saying he needs to return to upstate New York to care for his mother and mother-in-law.

The timing is awkward. The PGA has been dealing with financial stress, multiple executive departures, and fallout from last year's messy Ryder Cup at Bethpage.

The Frisco angle: The move to Frisco was supposed to be this big cost-saving relocation to "the Silicon Valley of golf." Instead, it's cost millions more than expected and caused a massive brain drain when most of the Florida staff didn't make the move.

The organization expects to name a new CEO in the coming weeks. That'll be the third CEO situation in 18 months for an organization that's supposed to be running major championships.

🎭 Universal Kids Resort is actually hiring performers

The theme park everyone's been talking about just posted casting calls.

Live auditions are February 13-14 at the Frisco Performing Arts Center, with callbacks on February 16.

They're looking for dancers, character actors, puppeteers, and costume performers who can handle multiple sets daily in a high-energy theme park environment.

My 4-year-old's audition dreams aside, I'm genuinely excited to see this park take shape. We're going to need every family entertainment option we can get with three kids under five in this house by February.

⚡️ Quick hits worth knowing

💪 New gym for the fitness crowd: Absolute Recomp opened on Preston Road right before Christmas. Usual cardio and weights, plus a sauna and a "posing room with lighting designed to enhance muscle definition." I'll stick to chasing toddlers for my cardio.

🔬 STEM-focused private school just opened: Winters Park Academy launched this week on Coit Road. Pre-K through 5th grade, heavy focus on science and tech, class sizes capped at 18. Enrolling now for rest of this year and fall 2026.

🎾 Tennis courts open at Raymond Community Park: Park's still under construction in Prosper, but tennis and pickleball courts are open during daylight hours. Full park (baseball fields, playground, garden) expected late February.
