Howdy Frisco -

Valentine's Day looks different with 3 kids who think 3am is party time. Emily and I used to do fancy dinners and all that. Now we're doing heart-shaped pancakes and calling it romance.

But honestly? Frisco keeps getting better, which feels like its own kind of love language for a place we're raising our family.

🏢 Public Storage Is Moving Their Corporate HQ to Frisco

Okay, this is actually massive. Public Storage just announced they're relocating their corporate headquarters from California to Frisco. We're talking about a company that's in the S&P 500, owns 3,533 self-storage facilities nationwide, and just unveiled a whole new leadership vision called "PS4.0."

The company's incoming CEO Tom Boyle (he takes over on April 1st) said they picked Frisco specifically for "the depth of talent and innovation in that market." They're keeping some presence in Glendale, California, but Frisco is now home base.

Why this matters: These kinds of corporate relocations bring good-paying jobs, talented professionals, and economic momentum. As someone who currently works at a Fortune 500 company in Legacy West, I've watched this area become a magnet for corporate talent.

Public Storage joining that mix is another signal that Frisco is becoming a serious business hub, not just a bedroom community.

🎭 FISD Wins Theatre Education Award (Again)

Frisco ISD just got named a Premier Community for Theatre Education by Texas Thespians. It's the fourth year in a row, and only 20 districts statewide earned it.

More than 3,500 secondary students here take theater classes, which is wild. The award looks at everything from curriculum to facilities to class sizes to technical equipment.

My take as a parent: Even if we go the homeschool route early on with our kids (our current plan), knowing the district has strong programs like this makes me feel better about our long-term options as the kids get older. Plus, theater kids are the best (my wife was a thespian ;)). They're creative, confident, and know how to collaborate. Those are skills that matter whether you're on stage or in a boardroom.

🏗️ Firefly Park Gets Its First Retail Tenant

The massive Firefly Park development just announced Tyler's (the sportswear retailer) as its first confirmed tenant. They're taking about 16,653 square feet in the Aurora tower, which is the 18-story residential building going up.

Tyler's is planning to open fall 2027 when the first phase wraps. This will be their ninth Texas location. More retailers are getting announced in the coming weeks, according to Wilks Development.

The bigger picture: Firefly Park is 217 acres of mixed-use development with 4 million square feet of office space, 400,000 square feet of retail and dining, 1,200 hotel rooms, and almost 2,000 residential units when it's all done. Plus a 45-acre park with ponds and trails.

I drive past this construction zone probably twice a week. It's hard to visualize what it'll actually look like when it's finished, but having the first retail tenant confirmed makes it feel more real.

Emily's already talking about bringing the girls to check it out once the park opens. Apparently there's going to be an illuminated outdoor art walk, which sounds pretty cool for evening family strolls.
