Howdy Frisco -

A bobcat hopped a backyard fence in Frisco on Easter Sunday and nearly turned a Yorkshire terrier into an appetizer. The dog survived, the bobcat did not RSVP, and wildlife officials say these encounters are getting more common as neighborhoods keep expanding into their territory.

So if you've got a tiny dog, an outdoor cat, or honestly anything roughly the size of a rotisserie chicken... maybe keep an eye on them outside. Frisco's food chain is getting a little too local.

Alright, here's what's happening in Frisco. ⬇️

🎬 SAMUEL L. JACKSON IS FILMING DOWN THE STREET (KIND OF)

Taylor Sheridan's new show Frisco King is actively filming in Southlake this week, and it's going to mess with your commute a little.

Production is near Players Circle on the west side of Southlake all day Monday and Tuesday, and half the day Wednesday. Expect intermittent rolling closures along FM 1709 between Randol Mill/Davis Blvd and Peytonville Ave. Southlake DPS says the pauses will avoid rush hour, but plan for minor delays anyway.

What is Frisco King? It's a spin-off of Tulsa King (the Sylvester Stallone mob show), and Samuel L. Jackson plays a hitman named Russell Lee Washington Jr. The show was originally set in New Orleans, then Sheridan changed it to Frisco. Frisco's own mayor, Jeff Cheney, described it as a "fish-out-of-water comedy."

Eight episodes. All written by Sheridan himself.

This is now the second time the production has come through Southlake, last month they filmed in the town square. Frisco's been a hotbed for Sheridan productions lately (Landman, Lioness, Dutton Ranch), and honestly I'm here for it. Our suburb is becoming a full-on backlot.

Worth noting if you're heading toward Southlake mid-week: give yourself a few extra minutes and maybe text someone if you spot Sam Jackson. We want to know.

🍳 BRUNCH IS ARRIVING IN FRISCO THIS FRIDAY

The Brunch District is opening its Frisco location on May 15 (that's Friday), and I'll be honest… Emily sent me this article at 7am and said "we're going."

The menu leans Southern and Tex-Mex: steak and eggs, loaded grits, migas, plus sandwiches and salads for the lunch crowd. They've already got locations in Colleyville, McKinney, and Addison, so this isn't a gamble. It's a known quantity, and the reviews from those spots have been solid.

📍 5199 Panther Creek Pkwy, Ste. 100, Frisco 🗓️ Opens May 15

We've been on a bit of a brunch circuit lately (toddler brunch logistics are their own sport), and I'm excited to add another local spot to the rotation. Loaded grits and a four-year-old who still insists on "sharing" your entire plate. That's the experience.

Worth bookmarking for the weekend after it opens and the opening-day chaos dies down.

🏐 THE DALLAS PULSE ARE YOUR MLV CHAMPIONS

The Frisco-based Dallas Pulse did something no expansion team had ever done in Major League Volleyball history: they won the title in their debut season.

Friday night at Comerica Center, the Pulse took down the Omaha Supernovas 3-2 in a five-set championship match that went the full distance for the first time in league history. The final combined score across all five sets was 100-95, the closest "Match For A Million" finish ever.

The star of the night: outside hitter Sofia Maldonado Diaz put up 26 kills, including five in the decisive fifth set during the run that sealed it. Setter Natalia Valentin-Anderson added 43 assists, and Tristin Savage tied a league postseason record with 7 blocks.

Head coach Shannon Winzer summed up the season perfectly: "This club has no past, it only has beginnings. We need to make our mark and today we very much made our mark."

4,598 fans packed Comerica Center for a sold-out crowd. That's right here in our backyard.

I'll admit I didn't catch the match live (three kids, 8pm start, you do the math), but this is exactly the kind of local team worth paying attention to going forward. A championship franchise in its first year, playing at a venue I drive past on my way home. Pretty cool, Frisco.

📣 QUICK HITS

🎾 FISD tennis had a massive week at the UIL State Championship in San Antonio. Lebanon Trail's Aaditt Rishi won the 5A boys singles title without dropping a set. Panther Creek's Aariz Rehman won his second straight 4A boys singles title. Two other FISD doubles teams were state runners-up. Frisco is quietly a tennis powerhouse.

🚧 Meadow Hill Drive construction is coming this June. The city approved a $2.16M contract to rebuild and widen the road (including two roundabouts), funded by bonds. Estimated completion: Fall 2027. If you drive Meadow Hill regularly, mentally bookmark June as the start of your new alternate route era.

🗳️ Frisco mayoral runoff is June 13. Mark Hill (34.6%) and Rod Vilhauer (31.4%) are headed to a runoff after neither cleared 50% on May 2. Circle it on the calendar.

🏡 FRISCO, PLANO & PROSPER SELLERS: COLLIN COUNTY JUST DROPPED 6.1%

Inventory up 62% above average. Values down 6.1% YoY, the biggest beatdown since at least 2000. Homes lingering, price cuts popping up like bad decisions.

But here’s the cheeky truth: Buyers from LA, Seattle, SF, and DC are still flooding in… they’re just not throwing cash at any old listing anymore. They’ve grown picky.
