Howdy Frisco -

Did you know Frisco is getting drone delivery? Like, actual pizza-from-the-sky drone delivery. Flytrex just opened a manufacturing facility in Pilot Point and is targeting 60 delivery sites across DFW by mid-2027, potentially reaching 5 million residents.

My daughters already want to stand in the backyard and wait for snacks to descend from the heavens. I told them that's basically just prayer, but with better logistics.

Okay, onto the week's big stories.

🗳️ TODAY IS ELECTION DAY - Frisco Is Getting a New Mayor

This is it. After nine years, Frisco is turning the page on the Jeff Cheney era, and we're finding out today who comes next.

Rod Vilhauer vs. Mark Hill - two candidates who came out on top of a four-person primary in May are now in the final runoff. Mayor Cheney has been in the seat since 2017 and is term-limited out, so this is a genuinely historic vote for the city.

Over 25,000 early votes were already cast during the June 1-9 early voting window. So the energy is real.

If you haven't voted yet, today is your last chance. Collin County voters can go to any polling location. Denton County residents need to show up at their specific assigned polling place, so double-check yours before heading out.

🏗️ Hall Park Just Broke Ground on Something Big

Hall Park officially broke ground on June 10 on two major projects: The Terraces Hall Park, a 10-story Class A office tower, and a $14 million expansion of Kaleidoscope Park. Both are expected to be done by 2028.

The office tower is over 200,000 square feet with terraces on every floor, a rooftop amenity level with a bar and lounge, and about 60% move-in-ready spec suites. It's the kind of place that makes companies actually want to relocate here (which, as someone who commutes to Legacy West daily, I can confirm Frisco needs more of for people to stay in the city for work).

But here's what caught my eye as a dad: the park expansion.

Kaleidoscope Park is already one of those "we need to go back there" spots for our family. The expansion adds 1.4 acres with a performance lawn, water feature, and a large outdoor stage and video screen. More community events, more space, more reasons to get off the couch on a Saturday.

Mayor Cheney called Craig Hall, the developer who started this whole thing when Frisco had 5,600 people and cows were visible from office windows. That's a pretty solid legacy. And now my kids get a bigger park out of it. Win.

✈️ DFW Airport Just Got a Little Less Terrible

If you've flown through Terminal C recently and thought "this feels... nicer?" — you weren't imagining it.

DFW officially opened 9 new gates in Terminal C on June 8, including 5 rebuilt gates and 4 brand new ones, all used by American Airlines. Higher ceilings, energy-efficient windows, new concessions, updated restrooms. It's part of the $12 billion DFW Forward capital improvement program.

And this is just phase one. Terminal C will eventually have 32 gates and over a million square feet once it's done. A new Terminal F (yes, a whole new terminal — 31 gates) is slated to open its first phase in 2027, and Terminal A is getting 10 more gates later this year.

We fly out of DFW with two toddlers and a baby at least a couple times a year. I will never complain about better restrooms and more seating. Never. This is a victory for parents everywhere.
