Howdy Frisco -
Quick confession before we get into it: I just found out Menchie's Frozen Yogurt is coming to Stonebrook Parkway, and I had to sit in my car for a minute to process.
Not because I'm that excited about froyo. Because I knew the moment I told my 4-year-old, my Saturday afternoons would never be the same. Construction starts in August. I've already been informed (by a toddler who cannot read) that "we should go check on it." Godspeed to us all.
Alright, here's what's happening in Frisco. ⬇️
🎯 Dude Perfect Is Expanding And Frisco Is Helping Make It Happen
If you've got kids and a YouTube account, you already know Dude Perfect. The trick shot guys. The ones responsible for the phrase "PANDA!" being shouted in my house at random intervals.
Their 80,000-square-foot headquarters at The Star opened just over a year ago. Now they're expanding into an adjacent warehouse to build out a full production campus - video, podcast, gaming, the whole thing.
Here's where it gets interesting: Frisco City Council just approved designating the city as a "media production development zone," which is a state program that could give Dude Perfect a two-year sales tax exemption on certain construction and equipment costs tied to the $1.7 million expansion. The state still has to sign off, but if approved, the incentive could return about $94,000 in combined local and state sales tax back to the project.
The expansion is projected to bring 40 new hires this year and potentially more than 100 new full-time employees over the next 11 years - directors, producers, photographers, media techs.
Look, I work in finance. I know not everyone loves tax incentives. But when the jobs being created are "media production roles at a company that makes kids lose their minds," I'm willing to hear it out.
🛍️ Stonebriar Has a New Saturday Rule - Starting Today
This one goes into effect literally today, so heads up.
Starting this afternoon, anyone under 18 at Stonebriar Centre on Saturday evenings must be accompanied by an adult; that means 3 p.m. through closing. The policy is being called a "Parental Guidance Required" program, and mall management described it as a response to "disruptive, unsupervised gatherings of youth."
The logistics: minors need to show ID confirming their age or be with a supervising adult who is 21 or older. One adult can accompany up to four minors, but has to stay with them the whole time. Public safety officers will be checking at all entrances.
The mall emphasized it's temporary, and they didn't exactly jump to do it: "PGR was not something we've entered lightly," a spokesperson said.
Frisco is growing fast. More teens, more foot traffic, and honestly, more of everything. If you've got a teenager who likes to roam Stonebriar on Saturdays, they'll need to loop in a parent or older adult. If you're heading there today with young kids, probably not much changes for you, but it's worth knowing the new energy at the door.
⏳ The Fourth Street Plaza Grand Opening Won't Happen Before the World Cup
This one stings a little if you've been watching the downtown Rail District come together.
The city had planned a grand opening for the Fourth Street Plaza on June 20. That's been cancelled. Construction won't be done in time, and city officials said they'd rather get it right than rush it out the door before FIFA fans start rolling through.
Quick recap on what's in play downtown:
Main Street reconstruction: $19.94M - nearly done
Downtown parking garage: $26.01M - nearly done
Fourth Street Plaza: $18.7M - still in progress
Frisco's engineering director was upfront about the trade-off: the city prioritized finishing Main Street and the garage so there'd be somewhere to actually go before the World Cup. The plaza got deprioritized and fell behind.
The World Cup runs June 11 through July 19, and Toyota Stadium is the home base for Sweden's national team during the tournament. Mayor Cheney said the core downtown components should still be ready for World Cup foot traffic - just not the full plaza with the stage, big lawn, and rail-themed gathering space.
"This has been nearly a decade long project," Cheney said, "so we want to make sure that it finishes correctly."
I drive past this stretch regularly, and honestly? The parking garage alone is going to change the feel of downtown. I'm keeping my expectations managed but I'm quietly optimistic.
📣 Quick Frisco ISD Wins Worth Celebrating
Couldn't let these slide by without a mention:
Liberty High School's Camerata Orchestra was invited to the 80th Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago (one of the most prestigious instrumental music conferences in the world). This is the fifth straight year a Frisco ISD ensemble has earned an invite.
And Robertson Elementary was named a 2026 School Transforming Learning campus by the N2 Learning Principals' Institute. Nice to see good things happening in the classrooms.
🏡 Frisco Sellers: Buyers Are Being Brutal. Don’t Be Their Next Victim.
Homes sitting 54 days. 80% selling below asking. Price cuts everywhere. Median price sliding.
But here’s the cheeky truth: Buyers from LA, Seattle, SF, and DC are still flooding in. They just aren’t throwing money at any old listing anymore.
The winners right now? Sellers with the sharpest agent who actually knows how to play this market.
That’s why my wife Emily built her AI matching system: it cuts through the fluff and pairs you with the specialist who’s crushing it in your neighborhood and price range right now.
No recycled “top agent” lists. No friends-of-friends. Just data-driven matches based on who’s actually closing similar homes in today’s picky conditions.
