Downtown Frisco just got its biggest public space since the Rail District redevelopment began, the Water Park closes for good on Monday, and Paws in the Pool is one week away. Happy Labor Day weekend.

If you're wondering what all the construction downtown has been building toward, here it is: Fourth Street Plaza is open.

The plaza sits between Elm and Main streets in the Rail District and is the final major construction milestone of Frisco's $80 million+ downtown redevelopment. It features covered seating and tables, public art, Rail District gateway monuments, a restroom, a performance stage, and a lawn with open seating. Construction is complete - furniture is still being installed, but the space is already open to the public.

The formal grand opening celebration is set for Oct. 13. Mayor Pro Tem Laura Rummel told the City Council on Sept. 1 that she's heard from multiple people that the space is much bigger than they expected. For residents who've watched the Rail District transform block by block over the past few years, this is the capstone.

💚 North Texas Giving Day is Sept. 17. Early giving is open now. Support a local nonprofit like the Museum of the American Railroad at NorthTexasGivingDay.org.

🏖️ Labor Day is Monday. City offices closed Sept. 7. Curbside trash and recycling pickup delayed one day all week (Monday pickup moves to Tuesday, etc.). Discovery Center closed Monday. Regular hours resume Tuesday.

🏊 Frisco Water Park closes for the season Monday. Last day is Labor Day, Sept. 7, 10:30AM-5PM. Also open Sunday, 11AM-5PM. After that, the pool reopens only for dogs (Paws in the Pool, Sept. 12).
