Howdy Frisco -

Mountain bikers, your wait is over. With Erwin Park closed, Frisco's new 120-acre park opens Saturday with dedicated MTB trails, a skills park, and terrain that was built around the land instead of paving over it. Also: the Mothing Adventure is tomorrow night, FC Dallas plays at home Friday, Journey and Led Zeppelin tributes at The Revel, and Moxies just opened at The Star.

I got a message from a reader this week that summed it up perfectly: with Erwin Park in McKinney closed for renovations, there's nowhere close for mountain bikers across the northern suburbs to ride. Until Saturday morning.

Northwest Community Park opens at 8AM with miles of dedicated off-road mountain bike trails, a skills park for bikes and skateboarding, and 120 acres of terrain built around the natural topography instead of flattened for sports fields. The trails are rated 89% easy, 8% intermediate, and 3% advanced, with a 20-foot elevated prairie observation deck that doubles as a gravity trail start point.

But it's not just for riders. There are playgrounds for ages 2-5 and 5-12, a splash pad, a dog park for small and large dogs, public art, and restored native Blackland Prairie with native plant gardens. Only about 70 of the 120 acres are developed - the rest is conserved as natural prairie land.

The grand opening celebration runs 8-10AM with a ribbon cutting, fun run, bike ride, and refreshments. After the ceremony the park stays open all day.

The 13,000-square-foot Canadian restaurant and bar brand just opened at The Star, bringing brunch, dinner, and cocktails in a polished space a block from the Cowboys' headquarters. Moxies has over 60 locations across North America, and this is its first Frisco outpost.

⚽ FC Dallas hosts its first September home game tomorrow. Friday Sept. 19 at Toyota Stadium, with a second home match Sept. 26.

💰 Budget officially adopted. Council unanimously approved the $330.5M budget Monday night. Tax rate stays flat at .425517 for the third year. Average monthly tax bill goes up about $8 due to rising home values ($608,520 avg). Water/sewer increases take effect Oct. 1, and the city is providing a sewer subsidy to help offset rate increases. Mayor Hill called it one of three budget priorities.
