🍼 Frisco Just Got A Lot Easier With A Baby

Riders Field added a Mother's Room, sponsored by Baylor Scott & White Health, tucked into the outfield concourse beyond center field. We're talking air conditioning, gliders, a changing station, and free diapers and wipes.

As a guy currently a few months into newborn life, I cannot overstate how big this is. Taking an infant to a ballgame used to mean nursing in a bathroom stall or bailing early. Now there's an actual dedicated, private, cool space to do it. Emily's already asking when we're going to a game so she can check it out (translation: so she has somewhere to escape the toddlers for ten minutes).

It also comes on the heels of a record-breaking July 4th crowd, 12,198 fans, the largest in Riders Field history. Frisco loves its baseball, and now Frisco babies can love it too.

State filings show Chuck E. Cheese is planning an 18,000-square-foot Adventure World at 801 W. 15th St. in Plano, an entirely new concept focused on climbing structures, slides, tunnels, a mini soccer court, and a light-up dance floor. Construction is slated to start September 7 and finish by December 7.

Here's the twist: no arcade games, no prize counter, just active play for kids ages 3 to 8, and parents are actually encouraged to climb in with them. This is the second Adventure World in North Texas after Arlington opened one last November.

My girls are 5 and 3, so this is basically a direct hit on our household. I already know exactly which Saturday we're clearing the calendar for once this opens.

Fourth Street Plaza, the last major piece of the Rail District construction, is expected to wrap by the end of August. And Northwest Community Park, off Teel and Fields Parkways, is now set to open this September after some earlier delays.

I've watched that Rail District corner go from a construction zone I mentally filtered out on my commute to something that's actually starting to look like a real gathering spot. And a new community park is exactly the kind of thing that gets circled on our family calendar the second it opens, another spot to burn toddler energy that isn't our living room at 6:45 AM.
