Howdy Frisco -

33 Peaks Café is coming soon to the Shops at Starwood (6959 Lebanon Road, Ste. 116). Coffee, pastries, cold drinks, smoothies, sandwiches.

No firm open date yet, but I've already begun mentally rehearsing the "quick coffee run" excuse I'll use to disappear on a Saturday morning.

Let's get into it. ⬇️

🌍 FRISCO IS ABOUT TO FEEL VERY DIFFERENT. FC DALLAS'S SHAQ MOORE KNOWS WHAT'S COMING

FC Dallas defender Shaq Moore played for the USMNT at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He appeared against England and Iran. Now he plays in Frisco and watches the World Cup come to his front yard.

He told Local Profile the energy around Toyota Stadium has already changed. More fans in seats. More conversations about soccer. Casual fans paying attention who weren't before.

"There is a lot more engagement, especially at the stadium," Moore said. "I feel like a lot more people are coming in."

What makes 2026 different: Qatar felt somewhat isolated, arriving right after COVID with a muted atmosphere. Moore expects Dallas to be the opposite. North Texas will weave the tournament into the broader fabric of the city, not just the stadiums.

He specifically called out Legacy West and the region's entertainment scene as reasons international fans will gravitate here. He also noted Frisco's own transformation, from when he was here in 2014 to now, and pointed to PGA of America headquarters and the upcoming Universal Kids Resort as proof the city is becoming a real destination.

As someone who drives through Legacy West on the way to work every single day, I believe him.

The other storyline: Moore is still pushing for a USMNT roster spot. Every FC Dallas match between now and selection day is basically an audition.

"You've got to stay ready," he said. "All you can do is try to play as well as you can and make the decision hard for the coach."

Easy to root for that outcome.

🏆 FISD JUST HAD ONE OF THE BEST ATHLETIC YEARS IN DISTRICT HISTORY

The 2025-26 school year is wrapping up, and Frisco ISD athletics put together a résumé worth stopping to appreciate.

State champions:

  • Centennial Tennis: Third consecutive state title

  • Heritage Boys Basketball: First UIL state championship in school history

State runners-up: Lone Star Football, Reedy Girls Swimming and Diving, Reedy Girls Golf, Heritage Boys Track and Field, Wakeland Boys Soccer

Plus: 9 individual state champions across swimming, track, wrestling, and tennis, and 35 total state medals.

And Panther Creek baseball is still alive in the playoffs. A third team state title is still on the table.

The future is bright in this district, and that's not just a headline.

🌳 FRISCO JUST CLIMBED TO 30TH IN THE NATIONAL PARK RANKINGS

The 2026 ParkScore Index dropped this week, and Frisco jumped from 37th to 30th nationally. Seven spots in one year is a real move.

The numbers behind it:

  • 69% of residents live within a 10-minute walk of a park

  • $304 spent per resident on parks

  • 5.5% of the city reserved for park land

Plano had an even bigger year, reaching its all-time best at 13th nationally, with 85% of residents within a 10-minute walk and $228 per resident in investment.

The national benchmark for 10-minute park access is 76%. Frisco sits at 69%, which is not quite there yet. But here's what matters: Grand Park just broke ground. All 1,011 acres of it. That's larger than Central Park. Once that opens, Frisco's numbers are going to look completely different.

We live close enough to a park that our Saturday morning routine basically revolves around it. Wagon, two toddlers, baby boy, Emily doing all the real work. Knowing the city is investing in this infrastructure makes me feel good about choosing Frisco. We didn't just land somewhere affordable. We landed somewhere that's actually being built for families.

The Trust for Public Land also released research this week showing parks deliver $3 in economic benefit for every $1 invested. Grand Park is going to be a very, very good return.

🗽 THE NEW YORK POST JUST WROTE ABOUT FRISCO

The New York Post ran a piece this week titled "Why New Yorkers are happily relocating to this fast-growing Texas suburb: 'I never think about moving back.'"

The story follows a 28-year-old commercial real estate agent who canceled his Midtown Manhattan lease mid-term, skipped Columbia Business School, and moved to Frisco. His words: "Texas just pulled me in."

Same, man. Same.

The Post notes Frisco has exploded from 6,000 people in the early 1990s to roughly 245,000 today, adding 10,000 to 12,000 new residents every single year. The city currently has about 25 companies actively considering relocating here, including 11 potential headquarters operations.

Which means one thing for sellers: the buyers are coming. And they don't know the local market yet.

That's where my wife Emily comes in. She runs a local real estate referral service that matches Frisco sellers with hyper-local agents who actually know your neighborhood, your price point, and what's closing right now. No guessing. No cold calls to someone who just moved their license here from out of state.
