Howdy Frisco -

We've hit that weird January phase where the New Year's resolutions are dead but the optimism hasn't worn off yet.

This week brought three bedtime negotiations that lasted longer than my morning meetings and one very pregnant wife who's officially done being pregnant.

Just another week in paradise. Let's get into it. ⬇️

🏢 The Chamber's Doubling Down on Downtown

The Frisco Chamber of Commerce bought 7511 Main Street in the Rail District and they're moving in by July.

The new two-story space doubles their footprint and includes a podcast studio, meeting rooms, and space for a Business Accelerator launching later this year.

Why it matters: They've been in the Rail District for 40 years, starting in a caboose near the railroad tracks. They could've moved anywhere. They chose to stay downtown.

My take: As someone who only moved here in 2023, I sometimes forget Frisco wasn't always this polished. The chamber's commitment to Main Street says something about where this city's headed.

More details drop at their Annual Awards Gala on February 20th at the Omni PGA.

✈️ DFW Airport's Terminal F Just Got $582M More Expensive

DFW Airport's board approved a $582 million addition to the Terminal F contract, pushing the total to $1.7 billion and extending the timeline by 379 days. New completion date: August 29, 2028.

The good news: Phase 1 still opens in 2027 as planned. This revision is for future expansion phases.

What they're building: More concourse capacity, passenger processing areas, and concessions space. Translation: more room for people and more places to drop $18 on airport pizza.

Why I'm watching: I fly out of DFW for work trips and family visits back home. Terminal F is supposed to be the airport's big upgrade, and construction projects this size don't exactly have a reputation for staying on budget or on time. But if it means shorter security lines and less chaos during holiday travel, I'll take it.

They also approved $1.8 million to upgrade the DFW mobile app with better indoor navigation. Small thing, but anyone who's sprinted to a gate while pulling up a terminal map knows this matters.

🐱 Bobcats Are Attacking Pets (And What You Actually Need to Know)

Frisco police are investigating several bobcat attacks on house pets this week. Before you panic: zero human fatalities from bobcat attacks in 2025, and you're statistically more likely to get bitten by a pet dog.

What's happening: Coyote and bobcat sightings are up across D-FW. It's not an invasion, it's just what happens when subdivisions keep sprawling into what used to be their territory.

What to do: Keep small pets indoors or supervised (anything rabbit-sized or smaller is prey). Don't leave pet food outside. If you see one, make noise, clap, yell. Don't run. Don't corner them. Just make yourself big and loud.

My take: We moved to Frisco for the good schools and safe neighborhoods, but "safe" means learning to coexist with what was here first. These animals aren't the enemy. They're just neighbors who were here before the strip malls.
