Howdy Frisco -
Baby was up every two hours last night, so we finally caved and ordered a Snoo. Emily's convinced it'll be a game-changer. I'm just hoping for four consecutive hours of sleep.
Quick reminder: Today is the special election for Frisco City Council Place 1. Candidates are Ann Anderson and Mark Piland. If you haven't voted yet, polls are open today.
Here's what's happening around town! ⬇️
🍦 Global Ice Cream Brand Opens in Frisco
A premium ice cream brand just made its U.S. debut right here in Frisco. Kelvin Scale opened at 2650 King Road (near Main Street) and this isn’t your average scoop shop.
Why it’s different:
• Founded in India with ~40 locations
• Made fresh in-house with A2 milk, no stabilizers or additives
• Creamier texture because they don’t whip in tons of air
The flavors: They rotate 70-80 flavors, with 24 available at a time. Classics like Belgian chocolate and Biscoff cookie caramel sit alongside more adventurous picks like chikku (caramel-like sapota fruit), lychee, and Rajbhog (almonds, pistachios, saffron).
The pricing hack: One scoop is $4.50, but every additional scoop is only $1. Self-control is financially discouraged.
They also do waffles, brownies, sundaes, and ice cream cakes. There’s an open kitchen so you can watch it being made. Frisco was chosen as their flagship U.S. location because… well, we’re Frisco.
I’m taking the girls this weekend. My 2-year-old will wear most of it. Acceptable losses.
🎉 SAVOR Festival Returns April 30-May 3
SAVOR is back this spring at Omni PGA Frisco, bringing four days of food, drinks, golf, music, and celebrity chefs across the massive PGA Frisco campus.
The lineup is legitimately impressive. James Beard Award-winning chef Scott Conant headlines again, joined by Dean Fearing, Maneet Chauhan, Tiffany Derry, and other big names from the culinary world. There’s live music, fireworks, and even an acoustic performance by John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls.
Real talk: This is a high-end food festival. Tickets run $145-$395 per person, and attending multiple events adds up fast. It looks amazing, but it’s firmly in “special-occasion splurge” territory. I’ll be sitting this one out, but if you love luxury culinary experiences and don’t flinch at the price tag, this is absolutely your event.
Tickets are available now at the Omni PGA Frisco website.
🚇 DART Withdrawal Could Kill Regional Transit
Even if you don’t ride DART, this one matters.
Six of our neighbors (Plano, Irving, Farmers Branch, Highland Park, University Park, Addison) vote May 2 on withdrawing from DART.
If they withdraw:
Services end May 3 (immediately after vote)
13 stations close (Downtown Plano, Parker Road, Shiloh Road, etc.)
All Plano GoLink zones eliminated
Bus routes cut or rerouted
I don’t personally use DART for my Legacy West commute, but plenty of coworkers do, especially younger employees relying on the Silver Line. Losing service overnight would cause serious disruption.
DART is hosting community sessions ahead of the March 24 public hearing. You can see the schedule or submit comments at dart.org/PublicHearing.
Whether you ride or not, regional transit affects traffic, growth, and how this whole area functions.
