Howdy Frisco -

Universal Kids Resort in Frisco isn't open yet. Construction is still ongoing. And it already has Google reviews.

I am not joking. One reviewer said it's going to be a "fantastically amazing park" and couldn't give away any secrets. Another said it "brightens up the Frisco skyline." Someone is already planning to bring their grandchildren. The park. Does. Not. Have. An. Opening. Date.

This is either the most Frisco thing that has ever happened, or the most 2026 thing. Possibly both. My 4-year-old can't even wait five minutes for a snack, so I respect the enthusiasm.

Big week in Frisco. Let's get into it. ⬇️

🎭 FRISCO HIGH SCHOOLERS ARE WINNING AT THE TONY AWARDS (BASICALLY)

Two Frisco ISD schools brought home serious hardware at the Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards earlier this month, and if you're not paying attention to what's happening in Frisco's theater programs, you're sleeping.

Centennial High School had a monster showing. Rohan Singh, who starred in The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, was named Runner-Up for Best Lead Performer and took home two $2,500 scholarships. Mae Quinn and Sami Hengstenberg each earned $2,500 Technical Theatre Scholarships. Meanwhile, Memorial High School had its own wins, with John Donnellan and Landry Griffith earning Outstanding Stage Management for Little Shop of Horrors, and Donnellan also picking up the Bobby Mahuran Theatre Ambassador $2,500 Scholarship.

That's $12,500 in scholarships spread across Frisco students in a single night.

And it's not a fluke. Centennial also advanced to state in One-Act Play this spring, ranking among the eight best 5A programs in Texas. FISD has been named a Texas Thespians Premier Community for Theatre Education four times. This is a program that punches up consistently.

This community invests in more than just sports, and nights like this are proof of it.

⚾ PANTHER CREEK IS ONE SERIES AWAY FROM STATE

If you've been sleeping on Panther Creek baseball, now is the time to wake up.

The Panthers (33-2, which is absolutely absurd) just swept their third consecutive playoff series, squeaking out a 1-0 win and then a 3-2 comeback in their last round against Longview Spring Hill. Now they're in the 4A Division II Region 2 Final against Aubrey this week, playing for a trip to the state semifinals.

Games are at Little Elm HS:

  • Game 1: Thursday, May 21 at 6 p.m.

  • Game 2: Friday, May 22 at 2 p.m.

  • Game 3 (if needed): Saturday, May 23 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available through Little Elm ISD's Hometown Ticketing page. Note: there's rain in the forecast this week, so keep an eye on schedule adjustments.

This is the deepest playoff run in Panther Creek's short history. I don't have a strong opinion on high school baseball brackets, but I know a 33-2 record when I see one. Go Panthers.

🕊️ REMEMBERING THE MAN BEHIND WAKELAND HIGH SCHOOL

This one deserves a moment of sincerity.

Frisco ISD announced the passing of Dr. Justin Wakeland, the former superintendent for whom Wakeland High School was named, at age 86. He served as FISD superintendent from 1978 to 1997, stewarding the district through a period of remarkable growth, from 800 students to 3,600. He was also a founding member of the Collin County Community College District and was named the 1996 Region 10 Superintendent of the Year.

The numbers are impressive. What stood out to me more was this line from Wakeland High School principal Dr. Donna Edge: "His decisions were always guided by what was best for students."

That's the kind of thing people say at funerals sometimes, but when you look at what he actually built here, you believe it. The Frisco we moved to in 2023 with great schools and strong programs didn't happen by accident. It happened because people like Dr. Wakeland laid the groundwork decades ago.

📍 QUICK HITS

Uncle Julio's closed its Frisco location on May 13, citing "lease related circumstances." It was only open since April 2024 at 2401 Preston Road. If you loved the vegetable fajitas (Emily did), the Allen and Dallas locations are still open.

Frisco Station is leasing up. Three new tenants signed nearly 50,000 square feet at The Offices Three along the Dallas North Tollway, including architecture firm Parkhill, Ash Grove, and Raymond James. I drive past this development every day to get to Legacy West, and watching it fill in has been one of the more interesting slow-motion stories in Frisco. A medical office building just broke ground there too as part of a planned health and wellness district.

🏡 THE FRISCO MARKET HAS OFFICIALLY SPLIT. HERE'S WHAT THE NUMBERS SAY.

The latest numbers tell two stories:

Most homes: 54 days on market. 78.5% closing below asking. 1 in 3 already took a price cut.

The best-positioned homes: Pending in 23 days. Close to list. No drama.

Same city. Wildly different outcomes. With 956 homes competing for buyers who are increasingly coming in from LA, Seattle, and DC (per Redfin migration data), this is not the market to wing it.

That's exactly why my wife Emily built her AI Agent Matching System for Frisco sellers. Not a generic referral. A match based on your neighborhood, your price point, and what agents are actually closing right now in this market.
