Howdy Frisco -
The roads have been a mess this week, so we've been stuck inside playing approximately 47 rounds of Sneaky Snacky Squirrel, Outfoxed, and Go Fish. My 4-year-old is undefeated and absolutely ruthless. I'm questioning whether I raised a card shark or just need to get better at Go Fish.
Here's what's happening around town! ⬇️
🍕 Slice House brings actual good pizza to Preston Road
Tony Gemignani's new spot opened early last week at Preston and Warren, and I'm already planning my next lunch break around it. The Texan slice, a Frisco exclusive, is New York-style crust topped with barbecue brisket, bacon, green onion, and crispy onions. It's bold, it's messy, and it's only available by the slice.
Four pizza styles (New York, Sicilian, Grandma, Detroit), pasta dishes, cannoli, and gelato. The Instagram content is genuinely fire, which feels like a weird thing to say about a pizza place, but here we are.
Location: 5995 Preston Road, Suite 102
My take: This is the kind of place I'll swing by on my way home from Legacy West when I need to score major husband points.
🛍️ Pottery Barn's closing at Stonebriar, but not leaving Frisco
The Pottery Barn at Stonebriar shut down on Monday, but before you panic, a new location is planned for Fields West up north near Dallas North Tollway and Panther Creek.
Fields West is that massive 2,500-acre development that's slowly taking shape in north Frisco. I drive past it on my commute and it still feels like it's five years away, but apparently Pottery Barn's betting on it.
What's next at Stonebriar: New tenants are lined up for 2026. I'm hoping one of them involves caffeine or something that doesn't require me to wrangle two toddlers through a furniture showroom.
🏈 Wakeland just became Frisco ISD's first 6A high school
Big news for high school sports nerds (and future Frisco ISD parents like me): Wakeland High School just moved up to Class 6A for the 2026-27 school year. That's the UIL's largest classification, reserved for schools with 2,215+ students.
Wakeland's now competing against the biggest schools in Texas while the rest of Frisco ISD's 11 high schools stay in 5A. It's a reflection of how fast this area's growing—and honestly, as someone who's only been here since 2023, even I've noticed the pace.
What it means: New matchups, tougher postseason competition, and a signal that North Texas schools aren't slowing down anytime soon. District assignments drop in February, so we'll see who Wakeland's playing soon.
Watching the district evolve this quickly is both exciting and slightly terrifying.
