🍕 Frisco’s RaceTracs just got a $20M glow-up (pizza bars incoming)

Frisco's restaurant scene keeps growing, and this batch has something for everyone in my household. Chubby Skewers is bringing its Texas debut to Warren Parkway next year, a customer-cooked Chinese street food spot that honestly sounds like the kind of dinner-as-entertainment my toddlers would either love or absolutely destroy the table over. No pressure either way.

Closer to home, Halal Buns just opened at Gaylord Parkway with fresh, never-frozen burgers, and Bread Zeppelin opened on Main Street in June serving salads stuffed into hollowed-out baguettes, which is either genius or a lot of napkins waiting to happen. If you want something a little more grown-up, The Imperial Room cocktail lounge opens at The Star in early September, taking over the old Cow Tipping Creamery spot. Emily's already asking if that one qualifies as a date night or just "adults drinking where the ice cream used to be."

Last but not least, Moxies is coming to The Star District in spring 2027 with a full seafood, steak and burger menu. That's a solid year and a half from now, but I'm already mentally reserving a table.

If you drive Dallas North Tollway near the Fields development like I do most mornings, you've probably watched this $800 million project climb higher every week. This week it added seven more tenants, bringing the total to 44 signed leases ahead of its late 2027 first-phase opening.

The new names include Flower Child, SusieCakes, Lululemon, Tecovas, Warby Parker, Evereve and Boll & Branch, joining an already stacked lineup that includes Crate & Barrel, Nando's and Mastro's Steakhouse. When it's done, we're talking 360,000 square feet of retail and dining, 350,000 square feet of office space, and 1,100+ luxury apartments, all designed to be walkable so you're not circling a parking lot with a diaper bag and two strollers like it's an Olympic sport.

Late 2027 feels far away, but so did 2026 a few years ago, and here we are. My daughters will absolutely be begging for a SusieCakes cupcake the moment those doors open.

Not exactly a Frisco address, but close enough to matter for those of us flying out of DFW more than we'd like to admit for work. American Express is expanding its Centurion Lounge at Terminal D, growing the space by nearly 50% with a new dining area, a second full-service bar, and (the detail that actually got my attention) a walk-up ice cream window.

The $35 million project will move the lounge into a neighboring space near Gate D12, with completion targeted for November 2027. The current lounge has been open since 2018 and is available to AmEx Platinum cardholders, Delta SkyMiles Reserve members and Centurion Members within three hours of a flight.

As someone who occasionally gets to escape bath time chaos for a work trip, an ice cream window sounds like exactly the kind of "treat yourself" moment a business traveler needs before boarding a middle seat. 2027 can't come soon enough.
