Howdy Frisco -
Frisco is getting a second Baskin-Robbins, and I'm going to pretend that's not directly my fault. We've been bribing the girls with ice cream all winter and apparently so has everyone else in this city.
Late April, 5251 Panther Creek Parkway. Pink bubblegum ice cream is now a legitimate weekend destination on my calendar and I will not be taking questions. If my kids are any indication, this location might need its own dedicated soccer-dad drive-thru lane.
Now, onto the happenings. ⬇️
🏫 Frisco ISD Has a New Superintendent
The school board officially approved Todd Fouche as FISD's next superintendent at their April 3 meeting, wrapping up a search that's been in motion since Mike Waldrip announced his retirement last November.
Fouche isn't a hired gun from outside… this guy is Frisco. He spent 10 years in the district, starting as a 5th and 8th grade science teacher, then assistant principal at Roach Middle School, then principal at Pioneer Heritage Middle School. His mom was a teacher at Staley Middle School. His daughters went through FISD K-12.
My oldest isn't in FISD yet, but she will be. I like that the person running the district actually grew up inside it.
"We are committed to knowing every student by name and need," Fouche said. That works for me.
🚒 Fire Chief Lee Glover Is Retiring After 35 Years
Chief Glover joined the Frisco Fire Department in 1991, when the department had just 7 paid firefighters. He's leaving August 3 with 265 sworn personnel and a nationally recognized department behind him.
The Frisco fire department holds two rare national distinctions:
CFAI accreditation - held by only ~340 departments in the entire country
ISO Class 1 rating - the highest possible designation for water supply and firefighting capability
Only 8 Texas communities hold both. Frisco is one of them.
As someone who moved here in 2023, I take a lot of this infrastructure for granted. But it didn't happen by accident. Glover built something real here over 35 years. City Manager Wes Pierson called it "an example of excellence in his profession."
The city is searching for his replacement now. Big shoes.
🎨 Frisco Teen Wins National Gold Medal at Scholastic Art Awards
Ahan Jain, a 17-year-old Frisco resident and junior at Greenhill School, just earned a National Gold Medal in Experimental Photography from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, one of fewer than 700 national gold medals awarded out of 340,000 submissions.
His winning piece, The Crossing, was created using mordançage, a rare darkroom process that took over two weeks and multiple attempts to execute. It will be recognized at Carnegie Hall in New York City this June.
Past Scholastic Award honorees include Andy Warhol, Stephen King, and Sylvia Plath. Cool company.
Ahan also co-founded a teen business, contributed to early AI platform development, and plans to study mechanical engineering. His dad summed it up well: "As a Frisco family, we're incredibly proud that our community helped shape an environment where a young person can pursue creative excellence alongside academics and entrepreneurship."
🏠 The gap between a good Frisco listing and a bad one is about 45 days.
Redfin's latest data shows the average Frisco home is sitting for 71 days and selling at 3% below list price. But the hot ones? Pending in 26 days, at or above asking.
Same city. Completely different outcomes.
The difference usually isn't the house. It's the pricing strategy and whether your agent actually knows your micro-market well enough to nail it on day one. With 26.8% of Frisco listings taking price drops right now, a lot of sellers are finding that out the hard way.
My wife, Emily, matches Frisco sellers with agents who have the specific neighborhood track record to price it right from the start. Free to sellers, no obligation.
