Howdy Frisco -
Well, yesterday was MLK Day, and Emily and I had Texas Legends tickets. Instead, we spent it at labor and delivery in McKinney welcoming our baby boy into the world.
Insurance politics sent us north, but hey, he's here and healthy and that's what matters. The girls are absolutely thrilled to have a little brother, even if they don't quite understand why he sleeps so much.
Alright, letās get into it. ā¬ļø
š Frisco Ranks #1 Nationally for Housing Affordability (Yes, Really)
I know what youāre thinking. Frisco? Affordable?
But a new CoWorkingCafe study just ranked Frisco #1 in the nation among small cities for housing affordability. Rent for a one-bedroom accounts for just 22.7% of the median salary here.
A few more stats that jumped out:
#2 nationally for remote-work readiness (33.7% of residents work remotely)
#12 for labor force participation
Median household income: $145,444 (22nd nationally)
Local takeaway: this is why demand hasnāt slowed in Frisco, even with higher interest rates. If youāre renting, youāre paying less relative to income than almost anywhere else in the country. If you own, this data quietly supports long-term home values.
As someone with three kids whoāll grow up in Frisco ISD, itās reassuring to see the data back up our decision to move here in 2023.
šŖ Cirque du Soleil's MystĆØre Coming to Cosm in February
If youāve ever seen Cirque du Soleil in Vegas, you know how good these shows are. I saw The Beatles LOVE in 2023 and still think about it.
Next month, Cosm is bringing MystĆØre to Grandscape using their massive domed LED āshared realityā setup, a blend of live performance and immersive visuals.
The wild part? Youāre getting Vegas-level production quality a 20-minute drive from Frisco. No flight. No hotel. No Strip.
Tickets arenāt cheap, and the good sections usually go fast once people realize this isnāt a touring circus; itās a full-scale production. Emily and I are already penciling in a date night once weāre past the newborn chaos.
ā½ FIFA World Cup Could Bring $2B to North Texas This Summer
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will hit AT&T Stadium from June 14 to July 14, with nine matches scheduled, including Netherlands vs. Japan and Argentina vs. Austria.
The forecast:
~100,000 visitors per day
$1.5B-$2.1B economic impact across North Texas
Hereās the Frisco angle: Toyota Stadium is one of seven North Texas sites being considered as a team training base camp.
Teams decide where theyāll train by March. If Frisco lands one, that could mean open practices, community events, and once-in-a-lifetime moments happening right in our backyard.
