Howdy Frisco -
Frisco's biggest new park in years opens next Saturday - 120 acres, $40 million, and it's built for bikes. This weekend: goat yoga at Frisco Fresh Market, a car show at Halo Pizzeria, Community Sports Day at Kaleidoscope Park, a ladies coffee meetup at Summer Moon, Josh Abbott Band at Rollertown, and a Luke Combs tribute at The Revel. Oh, and the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony is tomorrow morning.
Here's your weekend.
π² Frisco's $40M Bike Park Opens Next Week
If you live in Frisco and have a bike, clear your calendar for next Saturday.
Northwest Community Park, a $40 million, 120-acre cycling-focused park along Teel Parkway near the PGA of America headquarters, opens Sept. 19 with a grand opening celebration from 8-10AM that includes a ribbon cutting, fun run, bike ride, and refreshments. After the ceremony, the park stays open all day.
The park was originally planned for sports fields, but city officials realized the topography lent itself better to trails and pivoted to something Frisco has never had: a purpose-built destination for cyclists of all skill levels. It includes miles of off-road bike trails (89% rated easy, 8% intermediate, 3% advanced), a 20-foot elevated prairie observation deck that doubles as a gravity trail start point, playgrounds for ages 2-5 and 5-12, a splash pad, a dog park, public art, and restored native Blackland Prairie - one of the most endangered ecosystems in North America.
Only about 70 of the 120 acres are actively developed. The rest has been conserved as natural prairie land. The park can also host 5K races without closing nearby roads. Construction started January 2025, cost $34.2 million in construction plus design and site work, and came in on budget.
Northwest Community Park grand opening is next Saturday, Sept. 19. 120 acres, ribbon cutting, fun run, bike ride, 8-10AM at 13770 Teel Pkwy. Details at friscotexas.gov.
