Howdy Frisco -

One of Frisco's most beloved dessert spots, Cow Tipping Creamery, is closing after 10 years and I am not emotionally prepared. This is the place that survived approximately a thousand "we'll just split one" lies my wife and I told ourselves before each ordering our own.

If you've never tried the Cookie Monster or need one last soft serve run before July 14, now's your chance.

Now, let’s get into it.

🐔 Plano's Fried Chicken Game Just Leveled Up

Hattie B's Hot Chicken officially opened in West Plano this week, taking over the old Boston Market spot at 2104 Preston Road. This is the Nashville chain's second North Texas location after Oak Lawn, and yes, it's close enough that I'm already plotting a lunch run from Legacy West.

The menu has five heat levels, topping out at something called "Shut the Cluck Up," which I will absolutely not be ordering with three kids under five at home who need their dad to still be able to taste food. The patio seats 50, which feels like the right amount of room for me to sweat through a hot chicken sandwich in peace.

🐮 Texas Traditions Hits Kaleidoscope Park This Saturday

If you need a plan for Saturday night, Kaleidoscope Park has one ready made. Texas Traditions runs June 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. as part of the Collin County Business Alliance's summer series, and it's free.

There's a King George tribute band (George Strait, for those who, like me three years ago, needed that spelled out), Texas food, and a drone show finale over the lawn. My girls are at peak "ooh lights in the sky" age, so we're already planning to let them run wild on that grass until bedtime gets thrown out the window entirely.

🏗️ A Frisco Bank Is Putting Down Roots Where Roots Already Ran Deep

NDBT, North Dallas Bank & Trust, is building a new 50,000-square-foot banking center and office building at Fields Parkway and Legacy Drive, on land that used to be the Fields family's cattle ranch. The same Fields family that helped found the bank more than 65 years ago.

What got me is the why behind it. NDBT's CEO talked about wanting to actually be in the community, not just operate near it, with green space, sculptures, and a commons area built into the site.

Frisco is growing so fast that "this used to be a ranch" is basically every block, but it's rare to see a company lean into that history instead of just bulldozing it and moving on. The project is another sign that Frisco's growth isn't slowing down, especially around the massive Fields development that's rapidly becoming the city's new center of gravity.
