Hey Frisco -

Hope your Wednesday night went better than mine.

Emily sent me to Target for diapers. I came back with a Lego set, string cheese, and zero diapers.

Anyway, here's what's happening around Frisco so you don't miss the good stuff.

🏐 Pro Women's Volleyball Lands in Frisco This Friday

North Texas is getting its first professional women's volleyball team, and their home opener is Friday, January 10th at Comerica Center.

The team is called Dallas Pulse, which is either a great sports name or what my Apple Watch calls me out for when I take the elevator one floor.

Why I'm actually excited about this:

My 4-year-old is currently obsessed with hitting, throwing, and kicking everything in sight. My shins are a crime scene.

The idea that she'll grow up watching pro women athletes compete in Frisco is genuinely awesome. Women's sports are exploding right now, $2 billion in global revenue this year, and it's cool we're part of it.

The details:

  • Coach Shannon Winzer + players like Mimi Colyer and Kelsie Payne

  • 14 home matches against teams with names like "Omaha Supernovas" and "Indy Ignite" (comic book energy)

  • Tickets at dallaspulse.com

My wife’s already planning a Saturday game for after the baby arrives. Anything to escape the house and feel like real humans again.

🖍️ Get Your Kid in the City's Coloring Book

The City of Frisco wants students to help create the annual Environmental Services coloring book.

The assignment: Draw one thing you do to keep Frisco litter-Free.

My daughter will 100% draw herself yelling at me for leaving coffee cups in the car. Which is fair.

How to enter:

  • Open to all Frisco ISD students + any student living in Frisco

  • Deadline: Sunday, January 15th

  • Email to [email protected] OR drop off at Environmental Collection Center (6616 Walnut St)

This is guaranteed to make your kid feel like a published author for at least a week. We'll take the win.

🎓 Nominate a Teacher for VIP RoughRiders Treatment

The RoughRiders and CoServ are bringing back Teacher of the Month for 2026.

What winning teachers get:

  • VIP treatment at a Riders game (complimentary parking + family tickets)

  • On-field recognition

  • $500 check (split between School District Education Foundation and their school)

As someone whose daughters will be in Frisco ISD classrooms in approximately five minutes (how is time this fast), I'm all for showing teachers some love.

Nominate at: RidersBaseball.com

Parents, school staff, and community members can all nominate. If there's an educator crushing it for your kid, throw their name in.
