Howdy Frisco -

How does a road take 18 years to go from "great idea" to "open for business?"

DFW Airport just cut the ribbon on the East-West Connector, a 1.65-mile stretch of road first proposed in 2008.

For perspective, the App Store hadn't launched yet. Since then we've gotten Instagram, TikTok, electric cars, and a global pandemic.

The new road connects Rental Car Drive to SH 360 and should make navigating the airport's southern corridor a little less confusing. The $30.8 million project was mostly federally funded.

Only 18 years ahead of schedule.

Anyway. Let's get into it.

🇮🇳 Frisco Just Got One of India's Most Iconic Jewelry Brands

If you want to understand how Frisco is changing, look no further than 13215 Main Street. PMJ Jewels, a South Indian jewelry institution founded in 1964, just opened its first DFW showroom right here in Frisco. Not Plano. Not Dallas. Frisco.

The grand opening was June 20 and drew community leaders, business owners, and members of the North Texas Indian-American community. PMJ is known throughout India for gold, diamond, and traditional bridal jewelry, the kind you'd expect at major cultural milestones and family celebrations. Chairman Kushal Kankaria said the Frisco location was chosen to bring their "legacy of trust, quality and timeless elegance directly to the community in Dallas."

Why it matters: This isn't a random franchise decision. Frisco has emerged as one of the most internationally connected cities in North Texas, with one of the largest and fastest-growing Indian-American populations in the region. When a 60-year-old heritage brand from India picks your city as its U.S. entry point, that says something.

✂️ A Second Boardroom Salon is Coming to Frisco

Dads, this one's for us.

Boardroom Salon for Men, the premium men's grooming chain founded right here in the Metroplex back in 2004, is opening a second Frisco location at 16803 Coit Road, Suite 150. The anticipated opening is August, and franchisees Paul and Caren Wolf, who've been running Boardroom's Plano Lakeside Market location for over a decade, are bringing it here.

Their take: they've watched the center of gravity in North Texas shift toward Frisco for years, and it finally felt like the right move. CEO Jeff Helfgott echoed that, calling Frisco "one of the most important growth regions in Dallas-Fort Worth."

The numbers: Boardroom reports more than $1.08 million in average annual revenue per qualifying location and 11.7% year-over-year growth. This isn't a struggling chain chasing traffic… it's a growing business betting on Frisco.

I won't pretend I've been waiting my whole life for this, but finding a solid men's haircut spot that doesn't feel like a fluorescent-lit waiting room is harder than it sounds.

FC Dallas Players Are Taking Over a Frisco Dairy Queen Tomorrow

Tomorrow, June 24, FC Dallas players Osaze Urhoghide and Nolan Norris will be working the counter at the Dairy Queen on 8855 Teel Parkway from 2:30 to 4:30 PM. Not just signing autographs, actually serving customers at the drive-thru and front counter. The first 100 guests get a free Dilly Bar, and there are FC Dallas jerseys and scarves to give away while supplies last.

It's also a good excuse to try Dairy Queen's new World Cup-inspired Blizzard lineup: Biscoff Cookie, Mexican-Style Hot Chocolate, and Strawberry Mango Mochi. Available through August 3.

The honest sell: This is the kind of thing my 4-year-old doesn't fully understand yet but will absolutely remember. Professional soccer player. Free ice cream. Drive-thru. That's a Tuesday worth rearranging your schedule for. If you've got little ones at home, this is the move.
