🚧 Your Gaylord Parkway Commute Just Got Messier (Quick Detour Fix)

If you drive Ohio Drive near the Lowe's off Gaylord Parkway, you already know. The roundabout construction at Gaylord Parkway and Ohio Drive is still very much happening, and as of July 9 traffic shifted from the east half of the road to the west half. Gaylord Parkway is now closed on both sides of Ohio Drive, no left turns are allowed at the affected intersections, and everyone getting to Bald Eagle Lane, the driveway behind Lowe's, or the apartments south of Gaylord has to approach from a different direction now.

The short version: if you're heading to the Capitol at Stonebriar apartments, you now have to come in from the east via Gaylord Parkway. Everyone else gets rerouted onto Warren Parkway.

The good news is there's a light at the end of the tunnel: this is a real safety and mobility improvement, not construction for the sake of construction. Phase 1 is building the southbound lane, phase 2 handles northbound, and the whole $3.5 million project is expected to wrap in early 2027. One more Frisco intersection about to become way less scary to turn left out of. Worth the headache, I think.

New numbers are out and 250 homes sold in Frisco in June, up from 240 the year before. Most of those sales landed in the $400,001 to $700,000 range, which honestly tracks with basically every new build I drive past on my way home.

I'm not going to pretend I'm a real estate expert, but as someone who watches this market closely just from sheer proximity, a small uptick after the last couple of years feels like a good sign for the neighborhood. More families moving in means more kids for my girls to eventually terrorize the community pool with, and I'm all for it.

This one is a big deal. Demand for the 2027 PGA Championship at PGA Frisco has already hit record levels, and the tournament isn't until May 2027. Weekend Championship+ tickets are sold out. Several premium hospitality packages are sold out. More than 150,000 ticket registrations came in this spring alone, the highest total in PGA Championship history, and organizers expect roughly 200,000 attendees with broadcast coverage reaching close to 500 million households in over 170 countries.

Let that sink in. This will be the first PGA Championship ever held at PGA Frisco, and the first men's major in North Texas in more than 60 years. Fields Ranch East is basically in our backyard, and next spring the entire golf world is going to be looking at our little corner of Texas.

I'm not a golfer (yet, ask me again after my son is old enough for me to use him as an excuse to buy clubs), but even I've noticed the buzz building around PGA Frisco since we moved here. There's still limited Championship+ availability for Monday through Wednesday and select Thursday and Friday sessions if you want in, and kids 15 and under get in free with a ticketed adult. Filing that one away for next spring.
